We sold off a lot of our collection for the down payment on the house. I suppose something significant could be said about stages of life there.

I don't remember the last actual comic book we picked up. (But I know it wasn't Marvel or DC.) I got the Firefly comics in book for.

Yeah, I was a big old school Marvel fan because the characters had more depth. Now, it just seems like a mess, full of "events" that kinda smell like "Secret Wars II."
Now that I'm so frickin' old, I'm lured by the appeal of DC's icons, but they're just a mess, trying to have dueling "events" with Marvel and trying to give those icons some sort of edge. Elongated Man's wife is getting raped and killed, Blue Beetle's getting whacked, Wonder Woman's snapping necks...
Nowadays, I'm a comic book geek who doesn't collect any comics.

This brought back a lot of memories. Hubby and I read a lot of Marvel, "way back when" before it seemed every character appeared in half a dozen titles and half of 'em contradicted each other.

I liked Alpha Flight.
